Dr. Blum Laboratories, Stuttgart: textile testing with BIAX stretching frame
Testing of compound fibres, coated fabrics, films and high-quality textiles. In this application, materials undergo testing for stretch expansion properties using a bi-axle testing frame. One particularly important aspect is the distribution of tensile forces in order to achieve homogenous anisotropic tension levels. The amplifier, motor, gear and coil produce a tensile force of 20kN per actuator, equating to 140kN on each side. Acting as speed controllers, the amplifiers are underlying to the tensile force control.
These high-tech materials are used throughout the world in roofing, aircraft construction and high-strength shell components
